DETAILED COURSE CHECKLIST

Pre-Course
  • Fill out the Trainer Interest Form and attend a Trainer Orientation.
  • Recruit participants to apply. Participants must be 18 years old, unless accompanied by an adult, and must reside in Hamilton County.
  • Schedule your 15 hours of training (minimum 5 individual classes).
  • Complete the Class Schedule Form online.
    If you need to adjust class dates or times after submitting the form, contact us immediately.
  • Select and notify your families/participants at least 1 week prior to the first class. Please limit your course to 15 student-caregiver pairs for the School program, 10 child-caregiver for Early Childhood, 15 individuals for Community, Office Ready, Educator Edition, and Small Business programs.
  • Review the Online Resources HERE. Choose what parts of the “curriculum buffet” you want to cover in your course.
  • Create a share-out, based on your curriculum, to be completed by your participants. Remember: Gmail & the share-out are the only mandated curriculum pieces.
During Course
  • Complete the Pre-Training Survey during your first class. You will receive an email before your first class with a link to the surveys. 
  • Have all participants sign-up for Gmail accounts.
  • Take attendance for each class & record it (+ emails) in the Google sheet provided by the Program Coordinator.
    Please remember: ALL families/participants must attend
    ALL 15 hours in order to purchase a computer.
  • Use the TGH TN website’s online resources as a starting point for introducing your curriculum.
  • Schedule final share-outs.
  • Review the available information on HCS EdConnect. For families looking to sign-up for an option, they can contact the provider directly or reach out to us for assistance.
  • All participants must complete the Post-Training Survey during your last class.
  • Discuss the TGH CHA Graduation Celebration & take a class photo!
After Course
  • Upload TGH CHA any final presentations or pictures that you want to highlight to the storytelling folder.
  • Complete the Trainer Post-Training Survey.
  • Congratulations! You have completed your TGH CHA course!

TRAINER FAQ

Can I use curriculum modules that are not on your website? Absolutely! The only required curriculum pieces are for participants to create a Gmail account and complete a final project. Otherwise, as long as the information contributes to your participants’ and families’ digital literacy in a positive manner, we encourage you to use the resources that are most relevant and accessible for them. Share with us any effective learning materials you use that are not on our website! We are constantly reevaluating, adding, and modifying existing modules in order to offer the most comprehensive and useful information for our participants and trainers.

Can I add participants after my class has already started? As long as 1) you do not exceed the maximum number of participants (15 families for school and early childhood sites; 15 individuals for community sites) AND 2) the added participants are able to complete at least 15 hours of training, you may be able to accommodate additional participants after the first day of class. We will likely need to coordinate with our vendor to get more devices to you, so contact us with specific information as soon as you anticipate this need.

My friend/co-worker/mom wants to help me teach my course. Is that okay? We encourage you to have a co-trainer, especially for any class size over ten participants or families; however, any co-trainers must also participate in the one-time Trainer Orientation with us to ensure that they are familiar with the process, expectations, and curriculum. If you are conducting a school or early childhood course, we will also need to get some additional information from your co-trainer. Please fill out the Trainer Interest Form at the top of the page to register for a Trainer Orientation.

Do I need to notify you when I finish my last day of class or email you the attendance sheet? Unless there have been any changes to your previously reported schedule, there’s no need to notify us at the end of your course. (If your schedule changes, contact us immediately.) The attendance sheet is a shared document, so we are able to access it at any time without any action on your part.
